Rama Marine, the nautical division of RAMA S.p.A., a company based in Reggio Emilia and established in 1972, has presented two new marine engines, the JD14 and JD18, thus expanding the solutions offered under the John Deere brand.
Founded in 2013 and active in the distribution and customisation of inboard and outboard engines for OEM companies, RAMA Motori (another Division of RAMA S.p.A.), having represented the John Deere range for Italy, Malta and, since 2022, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Croatia and a number of other Balkan countries, can now add Sweden to its list of international representation with the recent inclusion of the Swedish outboard OXE Diesel and, as of 2021, Lombardini Marine by Rehlko.
The two new John Deere engines guarantee heavier duty cycles and a greater power range. Specifically, the JD14, a 13.6-litre 6-cylinder with an output of between 298 and 599 kW (400 to 803 hp), stands out for its compact size and is ideal for ferries, pilot boats, workboats as well as recreational yachting units.
The 18-litre JD18 with a power output of 410 to 599 kW (550-803 hp) is designed for commercial fishing, ferries and tugs and can deliver up to 522 kW (700 hp) of continuous power with M1 classification and up to 599 kW (803 hp) with M2 classification.
The new John Deeres, also available in variable or constant speed auxiliary and generator configurations, meet both IMO Tier 2, EPA Tier 3 and EU RCD II pollutant emission standards. In addition, they are also compatible with renewable fuels and biodiesel blends.
