Consisting of 10 tutorials aimed at raising awareness among boat owners about safety and responsible behaviour at sea, Suzuki’s initiative entitled the Suzuki Drive Experience intends to make its contribution to safety at sea with a focus on the rules that need to be followed when on the water
The 10 Suzuki Drive Experience tutorials are posted on Suzuki’s social channels and on YouTube with the first in the series dealing with going out to sea and what to keep in mind when boarding a boat.
The series of tips include everything from the necessary equipment checks to verifying that the number of people you are about to board is not greater than the boat’s capacity, to making sure everyone has their own life jacket.
Other tips look into how to stow objects on board, how to carry out fuel checks and, for boats with a fixed tank, how to vent any fumes that may have formed in the tank compartment and how to open the tank hatches.
One of the most important pieces of advice, concluding the first tutorial, is to never put yourself at the helm if you are not in a condition to drive, and never disrespect the sea, the environment and other boats.
