What’s New at the 65th Genoa International Boat Show
An authentic Blue Water Cruiser, this year Italia Yachts is presenting the world premiere of its IY16.98 at the 65th Genoa International Boat Show. This is the brand-new flagship for the yard’s “sailing” fleet, designed to tackle large ocean crossings in both safety and comfort.
The new IY 16.98 (maximum beam 4.95 metres) is designed by Italia Yachts in terms of naval architecture, Arbore and Partners/Italia Yachts for the interior design, and Cossutti Yacht Design for engineering and structures.
What distinguishes the new IY 16.98 is a refined and functional design: a vertical stern with a garage for the tender and a configuration that separates the spaces dedicated to cruising from those designed for sailing.
Every detail is designed to allow the owner to sail even with a smaller crew, with the boat completely sailed (sail area of the mainsail + jib: 176 m2; mainsail + gennaker: 320 m2)
The innovative technology, designed for long stays on board, represents the synthesis of Italia Yachts’ design philosophy: recognisable lines, balanced geometries and true versatility of use.
The first sea trials have confirmed the expectations and qualities of the IY 16.98: speed, balance at the helm and a great deal of sailing comfort, a model capable of combining racing performance and cruiser comfort.
